studio pyramid
'Pyramid Studio is an alternative design collective formed by Beatriz Cóias and João Chaves, founded in January 2012. We're a multidisciplinary design studio that loves beautiful images mixed with good ideas, DIY, music and fashion. We develop a lot of research and personal projects which helps us to continue growing. Every project as a unique approach combining powerful original aesthetics with great context and concept.' 'What we do: Branding, Print, Packaging, Illustration, Sound Design, Art Direction, Editorial, Presentations, Web, Photography, Video editing.'
what I like about them: This is a newly discovered studio as I only came across them a few weeks ago, however I really love how they sum up their studio practice. I feel as though these are the areas I really find interesting and would love to progress in after graduating. My main interest within graphic design is trying to use aesthetically pleasing images and photography, I am also interested in the researching side of things and would like to improve on my concept creating skills, this would be the perfect studio for a placement and they are also based in London.
work:
ross gunter
'Ross Gunter is an independent British graphic designer living in London, working across print and screen. He studied multimedia production and typography, and over the past 7 years has worked in a range of agencies for a variety of clients, from start-ups to corporate multi-nationals.
Passionate about detail and craft, Ross's approach combines conceptual thinking with strong type and image, drawing beauty from simplicity. His work, both client and self-initiated, is widely published both digitally and in print.'

Although this choice is not a studio - I really like the work produced and would like to contact him at some point. I think this choice is slightly different from studios/designers I've looked at before because some of his work differs from what I would usually be interested in. However, I really like all the work he's doing, some of it is very much the kind of design I'm interested in, and the pieces that aren't are done so well that I am drawn to them. Based in London.
caroline aufort
Caroline Aufort is one of my favourite graphic designers. She is a French, based in Paris and I recently visited a bookshop/gallery where she occasionally holds events and also stocks her monthly magazine. Caroline Aufort was one of the first designers that I felt really inspired by and loved all her work, her design style and areas of graphic design that she focuses on are the areas that I am interested in.

what I like about them: After finding out about Dr. Me through the workshop, I discovered that I really liked their style of work. Something that I have always been interested in is collaging and photo montage which is something is a technique that is consistently used in Dr me's work. They've done a lot of work designing album covers which is something that I have become interested in more so this year.
hato press//studio hato
about them: 'Hello, we would like to introduce Hato Press a speciality printing and publishing house based in London. We specialise in Risograph printing processes. The Risograph prints with soy based inks resulting in cost effective prints with unique qualities.
Hato is an ever growing family for other creatives, current in-house members are Justin Bailey, Ken Kirton, Jackson Lam and Jordan Taylor.'
what I like about them: I really like the kind of work hato press do, they specialise mostly in editorial and publishing which is the kind of direction I would like to take. I like the printing style and the slightly dated looking zines they create. Zines are something that have interested me whilst being on the course but I've never actually made one, Im hoping by the end of the year I would of produced at least a couple. During Easter I might look into how I could get one of my publications printed there and hopefully do a studio visit.
praline
about: Praline works on a wide range of projects, from graphic design to branding, exhibitions and art direction. Praline has, over the years, developed a dedicated team and network of highly talented colleagues, collaborators and consultants. Praline's graphical thinking is characterised by an instinct for typography, colour and materials, recognised for its unmistakable energy, thoughtfulness and visual impact.
what I like about them: The reason I first discovered this studio in second year was because I came across a cook book they had designed which I really liked, the layout, photography and binding made it one of my favourite design pieces I came across in second year, and still admire. They do regular placements but it seems to be quite competitive, once I have created an online portfolio and I feel happy with it I would like to send it to them.
